About Jessica Hilton
“Naming an experience calms it. Understanding an experience transforms it.”
— Dan Siegel
You may recognize your habits and patterns as they unfold and understand where they come from, yet still find it difficult to respond in ways that reflect how you want to live, relate, or move through the world.
Awareness is present, but the desired change has not fully followed.
I work with adults navigating trauma, chronic stress, substance use, mood-related concerns, burnout, and longstanding relational difficulties. My work is grounded in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy and informed by advanced training in experiential and somatic therapies, including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, AEDP, and ACT.
Many of the people drawn to this work are thoughtful, capable, and highly self-aware. They often carry significant responsibility in their personal or professional lives and are accustomed to functioning well under pressure. From the outside, they may appear steady, composed, or successful, while internally feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, emotionally reactive, or caught in ways of responding that no longer fit their lives.
How I work
Therapy, as I practice it, is active and collaborative. Together, we explore how patterns developed, the role they once played, and why they continue to persist even when they are no longer needed. Rather than approaching these responses as problems to eliminate, we work to understand them as adaptations that once made sense within the context in which they developed.
The work often unfolds in phases. We begin by building awareness, safety, and nervous system capacity so experiences can be approached without overwhelm. From there, therapy deepens into working directly with emotional and relational patterns as they arise in the present moment. Over time, the focus shifts toward integration, allowing new ways of responding, relating, and living to become more possible and sustainable.
A somatic and experiential approach
Sessions focus on present-moment experience. Attention is given to what is happening in the body, emotions, thoughts, and nervous system as experiences unfold in real time. This creates the opportunity to work directly with familiar responses as they arise, rather than only talking about them afterward.
Experiential and somatic therapy recognizes that many patterns are not held only in thoughts or insight, but within the nervous system itself. By slowing down and working with these responses in the moment, new experiences become possible.
Over time, this can support movement away from automatic reactions and toward responding with greater intention, flexibility, and choice.
This work is steady, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that people are not broken. The goal is not to fix you, but to help create the conditions for growth, integration, and meaningful change.
