About Me

My journey in clinical counselling began with a master's degree from UBC, and over the past 15 years, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate complex life challenges. I am highly proficient in treating a wide range of common mental health concerns that frequently bring people to therapy, including anxiety, depression, chronic stress, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and major life transitions. Beyond this foundational support, my particular competency lies in guiding clients through the deep impacts of childhood trauma, as well as assisting immigrants in navigating the nuances of cross-cultural transitions.

As a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), I hold my practice to the highest ethical and professional standards, ensuring a safe, culturally responsive, and empowering space for your healing. Furthermore, I hold the Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) designation. This credential represents an advanced level of clinical expertise, meaning I am qualified and trusted to mentor, train, and oversee other mental health professionals. For my clients, this commitment to leadership and continuous learning translates into a highly secure, deeply informed therapeutic environment rooted in the very best practices of our field.

My Approach

I believe in a tailored approach that deeply appreciates each client's embedded life history. I integrate well-established therapies—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT/RO DBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). Alongside these frameworks, I employ a holistic lens that leverages the healing capabilities of somatic memories, visualization, and insights drawn from dreams. Where relevant, I also apply Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to delicately and safely process trauma.

Specializations

Adults & Childhood Trauma

While I support clients facing a wide array of challenges, my work resonates most profoundly with adults dealing with the echoes of childhood trauma. My focus is on helping individuals re-establish and cultivate a compassionate, loving connection with their inner child. This gentle process of engagement can lead to tremendous change, allowing clients to recover their genuine core, address historic injuries, and forge a foundation of lasting empowerment and independence. Our mutual goal in therapy is to build resilience, creating a path where you can break free from your struggles and truly flourish in the face of adversity.

Cross-Cultural Transitions in a Global Age

In our increasingly interconnected international age, the immigrant experience brings unique and profound complexities. I have extensive experience supporting immigrants as they navigate the multifaceted challenges of acculturative stress, shifting family dynamics, and the nuanced journey of integrating multiple cultural identities. My goal is to provide a grounded, culturally sensitive space where clients can process these transitions, find a deep sense of belonging, and build a meaningful life in a new context.

Tech Industry Professionals

Over the past four years, I have developed a specialized focus on supporting professionals within the fast-paced tech industry. I deeply understand the unique pressures of this sector—from intense workloads, rapid changes, and burnout, and the struggle for work-life balance. I provide targeted, practical strategies to help individuals navigate high-demand environments, establish healthy boundaries, and maintain their mental well-being while achieving their professional goals.

Play Therapy & Family Guidance

Drawing from my extensive background in child and youth mental health settings, I also specialize in play therapy—frequently utilizing sand tray and expressive arts modalities—alongside family guidance and parental consultation. This deep understanding of family dynamics, early attachment, and developmental stages not only provides vital support for caregivers navigating behavioral or emotional challenges with their children, but also seamlessly enriches my therapeutic work with adults engaging in their own inner-child healing.
